In addition to answering your enquiries, library staff may also provide library skills training sessions. Times and locations of these training sessions are often available on the library's website. You may need to book in advance for some training sessions.

Topics for library skills training sessions may include:

  • library inductions, including tours of the library for new members
  • using library catalogues
  • electronic resources (eg databases and electronic journals)
  • subject-specific training (eg British government publications, historical bibliography)
  • bibliographic software (eg EndNote or ProCite)

In addition to scheduled training some libraries offer 'drop-in' sessions, or you may be able to arrange a one-to-one session on a specific database, for example.
